Privacy Policy — World Museums

Information we collect

We, the developer, do not operate an account system or our own servers that collect personal information, and we do not use analytics SDKs. We do not sell personal information.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app is free and funded by ads served by Google AdMob, which is provided by Google. To show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:

• Device identifiers — the advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, only with your permission; Advertising ID on Android) and other app- or developer-scoped identifiers;
• Approximate location — estimated from your IP address;
• Usage and advertising data — for example which ads were shown or tapped, and app launch and interaction events;
• Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data of the ads SDK.

Your choices:

• iOS: the advertising identifier is only accessible if you tap “Allow” in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Ads are still shown if you decline, but they are less relevant.
• EEA, UK and Switzerland: before any personalized ads are served, Google's consent form asks for your choice. You can review or withdraw consent at any time in the app under Profile › Privacy settings.
• Android: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalization, in your device settings (Settings › Google › Ads or Settings › Privacy › Ads).

Ads in the app are limited to content suitable for general audiences. For details on how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Location

If you tap the “my location” button, the app asks for permission to access your device's location while the app is in use. Your location is used only on your device to center the map and show museums near you. It is never transmitted to us or shared with third parties, and the app never tracks your location in the background. You can use the entire app without granting location permission.

Museum data and network use

Museum information (names, addresses, opening hours, admission details and photos) is delivered from Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage). When the app downloads this data, standard technical information such as your IP address is processed by Google to provide the service; see Firebase Privacy and Security. Map tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap; when tiles load, your IP address is visible to the OpenStreetMap tile servers, as with any web request.

Data stored on your device

The museum catalogue, your favorites, your app settings and any countries you download for offline use are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes them.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Because we do not hold personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Requests about data processed for advertising can be made to Google through the links above. If you have a question about this policy or your rights under laws such as the GDPR, contact us below.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
